SANTA DASH: Following the success of the Mad Dash in September, there is now the chance to take part in a Santa Dash around the village on Saturday, December 7th, starting at the village hall at 11am (meet there at 10.30am). Participants need to raise a minimum of £10 in sponsorship to take part and will be provided with a Santa outfit for the event, which includes activities and games. There will also be refreshments at the village hall afterwards. To register, email smhindle@btinternet.com.
SINGALONG: There will be a community singalong at the village hall on Monday, December 9th, at 7.30pm, with Aycliffe and Brancepeth Brass Band. Entry is £2.50, which includes refreshments.
BREAKFAST CLUB: The next breakfast club is the Christmas special on Saturday, December 14th, at the village hall from 9am-noon! This month is has been kindly sponsored by Curtis Office. Children will be able to visit Santa in his grotto at their arranged time to receive a gift. There will also be bacon, egg or sausage buns on offer, as well as cups of tea or coffee. Plus, there will be Christmas-themed activities for children and a book stall. All proceeds go to the village hall.
CHRISTMAS PARTY: The Acle Scout Group is holding a charity Christmas dinner and dance at the Aston Hotel, near the A1, on Saturday, December 14th, from 7.30pm to late. The Smoking Spitfires and Quartz will be performing. The event is to help raise funds for the community. For tickets, which cost £20, ring 07809-708709.
WI PARTY: Aycliffe Village WI meet of its Christmas party on Wednesday, December 18th, at the Aycliffe Village Hall at 7.30pm. The challenge is for a Secret Santa Christmas card. For more details, call 01325-310421.
SCOUT PANTOMIME: Acle Scout Group will be performing Cinderella at Aycliffe Village Hall on Thursday, December 19th, at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £3 for adults and £2 for children and are available on 07809-708709.
CAROLS ON THE GREEN: There will be the chance to sing carols on the village green on Monday, December 23rd, outside The County at 7.30pm. Wrap up warmly for the annual community get-together, and enjoy a special visit from Santa. Afterwards, warm up with a mince pie in the pub.
