The Great Aycliffe Cancer Support Group arranged a very successful race night fundraiser in November 2022 at the Phoenix Club, Newton Aycliffe, in order to raise much needed funds for the ongoing operation of this worthwhile and much needed charity.
The Cancer Support Group wish to thank all those organisations and individuals who provided donations towards the costs of the event, donations of raffle prizes as well as provision of buffet food for those who attended the event. The race night was well attended and everyone who attended enjoyed the event immensely.
The fundraiser will help the Great Aycliffe Cancer Support Group to continue its vital work in providing a wide variety of services to cancer patients in our area as follows:
1. Providing information on issues affecting cancer patients.
2. Patient transport.
3. Influencing cancer services in the future.
4. Regular social activities, with others affected by cancer.
5. Assistance with benefit claims.
6. Day trips, social events, meals out.
7. Confidential & emotional support in a safe & friendly environment.
8. Use of holiday caravan.
Great Aycliffe Cancer Support Group as a local charity supports anybody within Newton Aycliffe and surrounding towns/villages who have been affected by cancer. Last year saw the development of a shop by the charity in Newton Aycliffe Town Centre. Within the shop is an information hub for members of the community who have received a cancer diagnosis, are living with cancer or are receiving treatment for cancer. The shop and hub is currently open every Tuesday and Thursday 9.30am-3pm. The group recently received a donation of a memory tree which is now located in the shop and hub, in remembrance of those members of the group who have sadly lost their battle against cancer.
