Local Woodham Academy student, 12 year old Tyler Veitch, is on his road to Malaysia. He is fundraising to attend a once in a lifetime trip to Malaysia in 2025, where he will be assisting with marine conservation and learning about the impact the environment has on coral.
As well as this, Tyler will be completing several treks around Malaysia, this will be a journey of self discovery and pushing himself to the limits.
Tyler is raising the money himself by taking on several challenges. His first challenge is to swim a marathon over six weeks, between 15th October and 30th November.
Tyler is spending every spare minute at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre swimming pool. He will be swimming a total of 1688 lengths equivalent to 26.2 miles. Tyler will have completed his marathon on Wednesday 15th November at 7.30pm, 32 days after starting it.
After this Tyler plans to run 13.1 miles whilst dribbling a basketball. He will also be holding various fundraising events during 2024.
