It has been a busy week with admissions, all very little ones too, but the smallest I have are hoglets that weigh just a mere 100 grams, they are named Spike, Belle and Bethany (pictured) after her finder Bethany at Sore Paws, she found them together outside The Cobblers Hall Pub mid afternoon, of course, being so little, they need a constant temperature of 30c to stay alive. Also we welcomed Holly from Darlington and Little Maggie from Ferryhill. They are all on antibiotics and wormer for some really challenging problems. I work with A Prickly Problem and we share ideas and solutions to some really tricky multi parasite infestations. All are stable but need constant critical care 24/7.
This rescue wouldn’t be as successful as it is without the support of some wonderful supporters, firstly Lorraine Elliott for her donations and a gift of a lovely hedgehog mug for yours truly, June for some lovely things, Beryl for some bootie items and of course Joyce for Puppy pads, and finally Claire and her husband who have made it possible for us to do some fundraising at the Scout Hall, yes our own tabletop sale that’s indoors, lots of lovely things for sale so please come and see us. Sandra from Darlington Hedgehog Rescue will be there too, she has helped many an Aycliffe hedgehog and fundraising is key to our success.
The date for your diary is Saturday 11th September between 1-5pm.
Tip of the week: Hyperactive Hedgehogs out during the day is a very clear sign of ill health, for instance parasite burdens and/or pain, please seek advice, all experienced rehabbers can diagnose and treat most ailments. The British Hedgehog Preservation Society can be reached on 01584 890801.
