This week saw the town centre celebrate our local emergency services with displays and vehicles from the Fire Brigade and Police.

Also in attendance was the blood bike, Aycliffe & District Bus Preservation Society with the Newtonian Bus as well as vintage fire engines and a police car.

The event took place on Wednesday 24th July from 11am to 3pm with crowds enjoying the displays and the glorious sunshine.

Mayor Mary Dalton and her Consort Val Raw came along to officially open the 1950s Beamish Exhibition and also wandered around the emergency services displays and even hopped on board the Newtonian.

The Beamish Exhibition will be on display in the town centre until 14th August, Monday to Saturday from 10.00am to 3.00pm
