On 7th March St Francis’  School organised the second ‘Believe and Achieve’ event which hosted even more employers than in 2012.

Children spent the day speaking to employers from a wide range of sectors including builders, consultants, aid workers, travel agents, lawyers, armed forces, bankers and chefs all keen to learn about different career paths and what  they need to achieve to get there.

This year was more hands on as children built walls with Barry Dobinson from home building firm Southdale, learning how to manicure with the Ladder Center in Ferryhill, using a till with Greggs and trying a range of new foods with Celebrity Chef,  Mike Earnden.

David Bowes, chair of school governors, said: “Events like this are very important as children get the opportunity to see what life could bring them in the future.” Headteacher Jane Wilkinson added: “It is all about giving the children a focus and showing what they can achieve if they believe in themselves.”

“We are very lucky as a school to have a forward thinking Headteacher and so many companies supporting us. The business people enabled all of our children to think about possibilities for the future and develop good role models to shape their future aspirations.”
