Bewick Crescent Surgery have been presented with a STAR award of achievement for the 3rd year running – the only one to achieve this in the Durham area. In order to qualify for the award it was necessary to obtain a successful Smoking quit rate of 45% in each quarter of the year.  The numbers of people accessing the service have been steadily declining due to the Vipe and E-cig, and hard core smokers are now filtering into the clinic. Approximately 79 patients accessed the smoking cessation clinics held on a Tuesday morning and Friday afternoons. These are available for those wishing to quit smoking, giving them flexibility to choose a time convenient to them. Bewick Crescent Surgery, work closely with Smoking Services and as a practice try their utmost to deliver a good service to patients who want to stop smoking. Overall Durham has the highest level 54% of smokers achieving a non-smoking status. which is the highest in the country. Well done Durham!
