Alongside the rest of the nation, Great Aycliffe Parish Youth felt incredibly moved and helpless as events unfolded in the Ukraine. As an act of witness and solidarity, showing love and compassion for their neighbours, they have decided to hold a 12 hour Youth Prayer Vigil for Peace in the Ukraine.
So on Saturday 2nd April the group of young people and youth team leaders will begin at 7 pm with evening prayer led by the Parish Clergy, then each hour on the hour, they will say short prayers, and focus on the plight of the people, sharing in the discomfort of a sleepless night, ending at 7am.
Hopefully they will be supported and joined by those across the town and diocese that have been instrumental in the collection of aid for Ukrainian families.
Please do get behind these young people who are committed to doing something to help others, and you can help too!
This is a sponsored event to raise vital funding for Ukrainian people who will be arriving in our towns and villages having left everything behind. If you would like to sponsor the Youth Team please get in touch with Helen McCormick on 07716 801262. Details are also on the Parish of Great Aycliffe Facebook page and Youth/childrenstclares Facebook page.
