Greenfield Arts and Greenfield Community College have been working in partnership with Durham University over the past few months to engage students creatively with Science.

Greenfield Arts, Unfolding Theatre and Durham University are working with a team of students from Greenfield Community College’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Club.

The students have devised, designed and created a piece of live theatre which aims to stimulate wonder and curiosity within their audience about the world and their place within it.

The students started by developing their ideas of what science and creativity means to them, working with professional theatre director and performer Annie Rigby (founder of Unfolding Theatre) and mentor scientists from Durham University Research Departments including Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Physics and Psychology.

The group have visited the University, performing hands-on experiments and investigations, and exploring their own responses and sense of wonder and curiosity.

During following-up after-school sessions they combined their ideas together to develop a live performance, which will be performed by Unfolding Theatre.

The premier performance of this fascinating show will take place in July at Greenfield and will then tour to other schools in the region, spreading the curiosity and wonder to other students.
