Shadow Minister for Veterans, Stephanie Peacock, has visited Newton Aycliffe Veterans Community Hub.
The Veterans Community Hub brings a range of support charities and CIC’s under one roof, providing a centralised ‘one stop shop’ for meeting the needs of veterans across County Durham, as well as some areas of Yorkshire.
During her visit, Ms Peacock was given a tour of the Hub’s excellent facilities including their fully equipped gym, café, and art room.
The Hub also boasts a training kitchen where veterans can learn to cook; a wood workshop complete with expert craftsmen; and a wellbeing centre equipped with a mental health and holistic team.
The Shadow Minister said: “It was a pleasure to visit the Newton Aycliffe Veterans Community Hub, and talk to some of the local veterans who use their services and activities. Due to a downturn in funding during the pandemic, many of the existing services for veterans in the area were forced to shut down, so it is great to see this fantastic Hub is open and able to provide support to the Armed Forces community in County Durham and beyond.”
