U14 Plate Winners NAYFC Girls
Squad: A’alayah, Amy, Belle, Casey, Charlotte, Ebony, Holly, Izzy, Macey, Payton, Pippa and Scarlett.
Our aim entering this tournament was to reach a semi final. We exceeded expectations in an exceptional Saturday of football for our team.
Group Stage: NAYFC 3 – Velocity Diamonds 0
We asked the team to get that first win straight away, to take the pressure off, and we did that against premier league opposition quite comfortably. Amy x 4, Payton x 2.
NAYFC 0 – Boro Rangers 4
Different mentality needed for this match, the girls did as asked but quality showed – against the eventual cup winners.
NAYFC 3 – Coulby Newham 0
Our team enjoyed this match we were comfortable throughout with midfield and attack dominant our keeper didn’t touch the ball. Amy x 2, Scarlett x 2, Pippa x 2.
NAYFC 0 – Blakelaw Inter Jaguars 4
This game nearly saw us lose half our squad with the opposition very physical, the heat and effort taking it’s toll. We finished third in the group so we achieved our goal of reaching a semi final, playing for the plate. Semi final would be an all Aycliffe affair with much excitement and trepidation from our team.
NAYFC 1 – Aycliffe Angels 0
An intense match for the team playing against players they know well. We produced a very mature performance grabbing the first and holding on to reach the final. Payton x 1.
NAYFC 2 – Redcar Athletic 1
The final would show what we were made of, the heart and determination to go for the win was incredible. We started the better team and took the lead when Amy was scythed down in the box, she dusted herself down and finished from the penalty spot.
We conceded in the second half but we still had plenty of character left when Amy scored again to take the lead once more. We held on, to much delight of the whole team and everyone watching. Amy x 2.
An incredible day for our team and one that they deserve. Our first piece of silverware, this feels like a significant milestone in their development. Hopefully they have changed their mentalities today from doubters into believers.
Every single player ran their socks off today and the smiles at the end were amazing to see. Well done to you all. Very proud parents and coaches.
