One of the UK’s biggest single-priced retailers, Poundworld opened its new store at Newton Aycliffe Town Centre on Thursday 12th November, creating 30 new jobs and a boost for the local economy.
The huge 5,000 square foot new Poundworld, located at the former Poundstretcher unit close to Aldi, was opened at 10am by the Mayor of Great Aycliffe, Councillor Mrs. Mary Dalton, and the opening was attended by a large queue of local shoppers which had formed early at the store.
As part of the celebrations, young customers were treated to a face painter, while grown-ups nabbed themselves some fab festive essentials from Poundworld’s exciting new Christmas Shop range.
Store Manager Tracy Boggitt, said: “We’re ecstatic about the fantastic response we’ve had from customers. Hundreds of people got their hands on some incredible deals on leading brands and seasonal items, including great Christmas products.
“Shoppers were queuing up long before our opening time at 10am on Thursday 12th, and from then on the pace didn’t let up. The team here has done incredibly well and we’re expecting a very busy opening weekend. We’d like to thank everyone who has shopped.”
