Dear Sir, Aycliffe Steam Machine Brewing Company thanks Durham County Council for the excellent events during their international Brass Festival 11th – 17th July especially for the two fantastic evenings in Newton Aycliffe. Steam Machine was lucky to host one of the first events of the county-wide festival, which saw hundreds of Newton Aycliffe residents flocking to the brewery to enjoy the eclectic performances of four superb international bands. Praise for the event’s success was expressed by many of the attendees on the night, and everywhere we have been since then we have been met with compliments for the night’s success, including the high level of organisation, the quality of the music, food – and of course the craft beer!

Followers on our social media pages have shared countless photographs, videos, and thanks for the “Brass at the Brew Room” session. Those attending were such a great crowd, and the brass bands even commented on how it was one of the most interactive and willing audiences they have come across. It is our hope that events such as these will be repeated in our great town, which is one of the largest in County Durham, yet never seems to have as much going on as other places. Whilst we in no way blame Durham County Council for the lack of events, we would just like to say that we would be ecstatic at any further ideas of bringing more culture and entertainment to the people of Great Aycliffe, and that the Steam Machine Brewing Company would be there to shout about it! Nick Smith
