The children and staff at Byerley Park Primary school welcomed poet Paul Cookson into school last week as part of the Northern Children’s Book Festival.
Appearing via YouTube for a virtual visit, Paul performed a range of different poetry from his many poetry anthologies. The children and staff joined in with ‘The Toilet Seat has Teeth’, ‘The King of all the Dinosaurs’, ‘Football 4 Every1’ and ‘Let No-One Steal Your Dreams’.
Pupils had the opportunity to ask Paul questions about his work and journey to becoming a poet as well as questions about where he likes to write his poems and where his inspiration comes from. The pupils thoroughly enjoyed working with Paul and his visit has inspired many of them to read his poetry and the work of other poets.
