Aycliffe Village Primary School had a visit from Dr Paula Chadwick from the Physics Department at Durham University, who set up a Planetarium for Class 5. She taught us about planets, stars, the sun and the Milky Way. A Planetarium is a big black semicircle that the children enter. On the sides of the Planetarium there was information about the planets and facts like how long it takes for the planets to fully rotate.

Afterwards it showed us all of the stars, there were so many and they were so bright! Paula turned the lights on to show what the sky looked like with street lamps on. All of the stars became very dim. The pupils enjoyed their visit and Mia Cooper said: “That was epic!” The Planetarium was a really fun experience for the pupils.           Georgia Armstrong.
