Dear Sir,

I am writing on behalf of myself and Miss B.C. Stephenson who reside at Honister Place, Newton Aycliffe.

We read your article and it has left us both very surprised and upset at the contents. We were aware that there was a plan but not that it would affect us, as we are both pensioners aged 89 yrs of age and Miss Stephenson being 65 yrs.

It would appear that we could possibly be involved with our home coming under a Compulsory Order Purchase. This concerned us as we are Joint Owners of this property. It is only a short time since we had a new roof put on, had a new bathroom installed, also we had a patio put down at the back of the property plus new windows throughout.

We have seen the map but as we didn’t think it would affect us as neither could read it properly due to the fact the writing was too small.

We are too old to have to worry about this and we both have lost sleep over it and wonder why it had to take a letter in Newton News to inform us about the scheme. We are sure that we are not the only people who have been disturbed by this proposal.

We hope you will keep us in touch with any further developments.

Joan Meynell & Brenda Stephenson.

EDITOR: We have received numerous similar letters on this subject expressing deep concern.
