Greenfield Community College received a visit from four Ofsted Inspectors on 3rd and 4th October. Their report was given to students and their parents/carers this week.   with the school judged to be good – a high attainment.

David Priestley, Headteacher commented “We know parents/carers will be delighted with the report.  There has been much talk in the press over the summer of how standards of inspection are being raised, we are pleased that inspectors were able to see the good job we continue to do with all our students”.

Inspectors recognised that students at Greenfield make good progress and that examinations results have improved in recent years.

This year saw record results at Greenfield with 96% of students achieving 5 A*-C grades 55% gained 5A*-C including English and Maths while 27% achieved the Government flagship EBacc qualification.

Inspectors judged that teaching is typically good and sometimes outstanding.  Inadequate teaching has been eradicated.

The school have developed new approaches to teaching and learning over the last year that have ensured that all students benefit from a wide range of teaching styles.

Ofsted said students are very positive about the school and their attendance is good.  They behave well in class and around the school. Students feel safe and bullying is rare.

Greenfield was recently awarded the Rights Respecting School Award by UNICEF and continue to hold the Anti Bullying Accreditation awarded by NSPCC and ChildLine.

The curriculum, together with Greenfield’s extensive range of extracurricular activities, makes a strong contribution to students achievement.  The commitment to the wider community continues to be a high priority.

The most recent innovation has been the introduction of Time4Success which Inspectors saw as a key feature in developing all students’ potential.

Ofsted affirmed that the school is very well led, school leaders including the governing body are rigorous in monitoring all areas of the school’s work including students’ progress and the quality of teaching.
