Building on the excellent progress made by the pupils and staff of Sugar Hill primary school in addressing the parking issues outside the school’s main entrance, the pupils recently received a visit from Durham Police Commissioner, Ron Hogg. As part of the visit, which coincided with Road Safety week in Newton Aycliffe, Mr Hogg complimented the pupils on their hard work and ongoing efforts to help improve road safety and prevent dangerous parking outside the school.
In this most recent initiative, each year group made a scarecrow with a ‘safe parking’ message attached to it.  The scarecrows were then placed near to the school gates, so that families dropping off their children could see them and heed the messages attached.
