Last Sunday morning Richie Bainbridge was up at 7am picking up litter in West Park and later at 10am the usual team of Chairman Ken Robson and Secretary Arun Chandran were joined by Andy Anderson and Grand daughters Courtney and Casey

west park litter pick

As a group we are making a great deal of progress, our park is looking fantastic just now. It is very gratifying to see new faces coming forward to help. Richie found a bag of bulbs on a seat in the park last week which shows public donations are coming forward.
We are seeing more dogs on lead and owners cleaning up after their dogs.
Together with our park staff the “friends” are slowly cleaning out the lakes leaving them looking more inviting.
I noticed that lots of elderly people and families are out and about in the park and we should now be looking for more seating at closer intervals so that people can take a rest periodically.
The Sunday morning spruce up is becoming a familiar sight and a great opportunity to meet the public.
Arun was having a week off work last week and he and I visited some businesses on our industrial estate delivering leaflets encouraging them to join us by sponsoring seats, bins or other services. We are awaiting a delivery of leaflets supplied courtesy of Newton Press which will be hand delivered to businesses in the town and the estate.
I would be interested in views and ideas of how we can improve the park for everyone to use.
