Abigail Craft, a member of Newton Aycliffe Dog Training Club, started competing in Kennel Club Obedience competitions in June this year. Abi’s two dogs, one-year-old Sullivan, and three-year-old girl Bridget, have competed in four local competitions, gaining creditable places at each show. Abi entered four shows in the Isle of Man for the experience, travelling with Sonya Ingledew and Lesley Thompson, from Newton Aycliffe Dog Training Club. What an amazing experience they had. Abi lives in Newton Aycliffe and works for BTS Facades and Fabrications, who support the dog club with an enclosed field to train in. Bridget gained a second place and several other places, young Sullivan gained four second places and several other places. A total of 12 rosettes over four days of shows!
Lesley was judging at two of the shows, Sonya was competing with Breeze, her 9-year-old Border Collie who has been competing for just over a year, and they won two classes and gained a second place too.
Newton Aycliffe Dog Training Club have competitive Obedience training on Wednesday evenings at Neville Community Centre. This is for those interested in competing in Obedience, and those who have been through basic training and wish to continue their dogs’ training.
