The Town Council has a policy opposing any building on greens in Great Aycliffe in an effort to maintain the town’s  pleasant environment. They were successful recently in getting a planning application refused by Livin to build on a green at Armstrong Close. Livin have appealed against the decision and the argument will be considered by a Government Inspector. A request from a resident to extend their property onto an adjacent green received an objection from the Council at last week’s meeting. The leader Bob Fleming said as a general principle, in line with the proposed Town Plan, there can be no building on greens in Newton Aycliffe.
