Newton News, successor to “The Newtonian”, founded in 1948, has been at the heart of the Newton Aycliffe community throughout its existence.
Newton Press took over printing and publishing your local newspaper in 1968 and has grown alongside the development of the new town’s businesses and residential area.
Newton News is run by Newton Press, a family business, who all live here and are very proud of our involvement with local businesses, organisations, schools, churches and clubs all of whom regularly send information for the interest of Newton Aycliffe residents.
We don’t employ journalists as all the news we require comes from the townsfolk and organisations that serve Aycliffe.
This is the appeal of Newton News – we are a unique community newspaper and our Honorary Editor, Syd Howarth, founder of Newton Press in 1963, checks the copy to ensure it is suitable for publication, only editing where necessary.
He is also acitive in the community life of Newton Aycliffe leading and joining in local campaigns in representing views and opinions of residents.
We value the support of  our readers and their contribution to the columns of the Newton News, which make this a true community newspaper.

Newton News is looking to expand and is considering printing a free monthly magazine supplement to be delivered with the Newton News to all business and residential properties in Newton Aycliffe . . . watch this space.
