Thanks to funding secured through the Great Aycliffe and Middridge Partnership, Newton Aycliffe Play Café provided vital support to families across the area during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Play Café were successful in applying for and securing funding to help them provide the much-needed food and household essential parcels to families across Aycliffe.
Alison Firby, Play Café Trustee, said: “We were faced with an unprecedented increase in demand for our service during the outbreak, receiving more referrals week on week. The funding received helped us greatly in supporting those additional families, that found themselves in need during this difficult time.
I would like to thank the fantastic support from Newton Aycliffe Workingmen’s Club for the free use of their concert room, where we are able to prepare all packs safely, adhering to government guidelines.”
The Play Café have, without doubt, provided an essential service to the community throughout the pandemic and continue to operate their wonderful service to those who require support.
