We are very pleased to announce that Mrs Lyn Adamson will be taking up the position of Head Teacher of Aycliffe Village Primary School from January 2021.

Mrs Adamson has been Head Teacher of Burnhope Primary since September 2014. During her time as Head Teacher she has been praised for her dedication to preparing pupils for the next stage of their education which was noted in the successful school Ofsted report from 2019. She has raised achievement significantly in phonics results, 100% passed the phonics screening check in the latest reportable figures. At Burnhope Mrs Adamson promoted an inclusive curriculum with a particular focus on Outdoor, Play and Learning, achieving the OPAL Gold award – something we are keen to develop at Aycliffe Village.

She has been able to visit Aycliffe Village Primary, most recently on 4th December, to meet staff and children. She was able to see the wonderful activities going on in school as the children prepare for Christmas. When she visited the school Mrs Adamson said that she is very much looking forward to becoming part of the Aycliffe community. She has been impressed by the warm and caring atmosphere of our small village primary school and is looking forward to working with the wonderful staff and governors, delightful children and supportive parents to move the school forward, raise standards and keep the school at the heart of the village.
