Sugar Hill Primary School have launched a new initiative, last Thursday, our very own ‘Kindness Cafe’.
The idea of our Kindness Cafe is to spread kindness to each other and involve families, staff and governors. In a world where you can be anything – BE KIND.
The idea being that parents, carers, staff (if they can escape from classes!) and governors, can pop in for a warm cuppa, toast, biscuit etc and start the day with a friendly chat with others in a warm space.
Alongside refreshments we are also running a ‘swap shop’ where we welcome items being brought along and being swapped for something else. In the first week everyone who attended really enjoyed swapping non-perishable food items, toiletries, books and school uniforms.
This new style ‘Kindness Cafe’ is to benefit everyone!
Staff have already donated items and are super keen to get involved in swapping too. We have quite a collection of pre-loved school uniforms and welcome donations of uniforms to maintain stock levels – it is amazing how quickly children grow out of their uniform, so our message is to our whole Sugar Hill Community, let’s keep costs down for everyone and join in the ‘swap shop’.
There is no obligation to get involved in the ‘swapping’ – coming along simply for a chat and warm drink is absolutely fine. It’s amazing how quickly the idea of spreading kindness catches on.
We have staff, governors and parents all making donations for our weekly cafe and donations from Lifeline Community Action and local food banks too. If you missed it last week, and your child attends Sugar Hill, doors open at 9.00am every Thursday. See you there.
