A keen walker and Bishop Auckland resident, Andy Jakob, is set to walk the 26 mile Hadrian’s Wall Trekathon 2014 in aid (and to raise awareness) of Macmillan Cancer Support.
The marathon Trekathon takes place on August 16th and along with hundreds of similarly motivated individuals, he will be walking the entire distance between Brocolitia Fort (above Hexham) and Lanercost Priory in Brampton.
Many will remember Andy as a member of the Aycliffe Fellwalkers Club (AFWC) and still more will be aware of his work as a musician and committed instrumental music teacher of local schoolchildren for Durham Music Service.
Andy’s Sister, Anne (1964-2005), received incredible support from Macmillan nurses at the Royal Marsden Hospital, London, so it is her memory that will motivate him throughout the challenge.
We all know someone who has been touched by the work of Macmillan Cancer Support. If you would like to donate to this cause, please go to the website www.justgiving.com and simply type in the name Andy Jakob in the search bar at the top of the page to access his fundraising page.
