Dear Sir,
Can someone tell me how, with so little detail/information on the NE Devolution, can anyone make up their minds? Can the council answer some niggling questions?
Didn’t one councillor say, before the poll, no matter which way the vote went they would still make up their own minds? Why did they have a council meeting to discuss the subject of which a partial report was in the Newton News published 1 or 2 weeks prior to the return date of voting? Papers had to be returned by the 8th of February 2016 which then would be analysed.
Can we now look at the data and overwhelming vote to back the IN vote. 82,000 papers issued, 21.7% returned out of 82,000, only 17,794 were returned, this means 64,206 didn’t get returned, keep this number in mind.
So, the percentages are based on the 17,794 returned papers. 59.5% of this is 10,591 who voted YES, which means 40.5% of this is 7,209 who voted NO! Which is only 3,471, the Magic majority. NOW LOOK AT 82,000 papers sent out, is this SUPPORT for yes? This is only 4.2% of that total.
We have an EU referendum coming up, so what happens to the 30m if we vote out?
