The ladies of St Elizabeth’s Church Knit and Natter group, in Woodham, have proved that they’re all heart with their latest project.
The group, which meets on Mondays, from 1-3pm, has been busy with needles and crochet hooks, making 313 hearts which will find their way into Christmas hampers for needy families.
A number of clay heart Christmas tree ornaments have also been made, so that children can decorate them at St Francis CE (aided) Junior School and St Clare’s Messy Church, both in Newton Aycliffe.
The group is also asking kind-hearted townsfolk to donate items for Christmas hampers, for example, selection boxes and biscuits.
These can be dropped off at St Elizabeth’s Church on Mondays, between 1pm and 3pm.
The Knit and Natter Group project was aided by the friends of Wingate Cree, a women’s group which aims to promote friendship and independence.
