Students from Greenfield Community College have been working alongside Grace Dunne from the Anne Frank Trust and Greenfield Arts to collaborate on a valuable initiative. The project ‘Creative Collaborators’ aims to promote kindness and tolerance, drawing upon the legacy of Anne Frank and the lessons we can learn from such an inspiring young advocate.

Students are looking at ways in which they can use their resilience, skills and attributes to share important messages with their peers that reflect Anne’s values that she held on to with a passion through such a difficult period of time and relayed through her writing.

The project will explore Anne’s diary, the ways in which she used her writing to reflect and to share powerful learning. The young people will develop knowledge, skills and confidence to enable them to become mentors, and learn how best to challenge important issues such as prejudice and racism through creative activity.

It will give young people the opportunity to look at the world around them in the current climate and ask ‘what else is possible?’ and ‘how can we all take better action?’

One student said “It’s important that we look after each other and our family, but it’s not enough, we need to look after each other. We need to be kind. It’s important we understand other people’s perspectives and this project will be a great opportunity to explore that.”
