Last week was October half term and we had a busy week at Greenfield Arts! On Tuesday and Wednesday we were joined by local families for two FREE Family Fun Days which included Big Draw Activities, Out of the Bag Sculpture making, Pro Energy Installation, “What Makes you Feel Good,” Henna Tattoos, Broomstick making and Hula Hooping!
Over 150 people attended over 2 days, all of whom had a great time enjoying the variety of activities on offer. On Thursday we had our popular Family Cooking sessions with Season to Taste – the families created delicious Goulash and Gingerbread skeletons throughout the day!
Friday was the last of our Film Festival screenings taking place at Community Centres across Aycliffe as part of Family learning Month. The group of young people watched “Hotel Transylvania” in honour of Halloween!
The activity for Family Learning Month continued into the weekend with two successful “Out of the Bag” sessions at Agnew Community Centre and Newton Aycliffe Youth Centre.
Families joined artist Jilly Greenwood for creative sessions using unusual and recycled materials! We would like to say a huge thank you to all the artists, facilitators and Community Centres for their help in making this year’s Family Learning Month such a success, and to all the families who joined us, we hope you had as much as we did and that we will see you at our future family events!
Family Learning Month is now over, but we still have two Out of the Bag sessions which will take place on Saturday 7th December at Woodham Community Centre from 10am – 11:30am, and Sunday 8th December at Greenfield Arts from 10:30am – 12pm. Contact us to book a place!
