Well what a weekend that was! Before the Bank Holiday fixtures I’d have been happy picking up just two points, but six against, arguably, two of the tougher teams in this league has left me ecstatic!
4-2 away to Colwyn Bay last Saturday then a 2-1 home victory over table toppers Blyth Spartans on Monday, with three of those six goals coming from our defensive goal machine Alan White which has lifted us up to third in the table behind Matlock and Blyth.
However, our next two fixtures represent a very different challenge for us as they are against teams who sit in the bottom five of the league.
First up is the away game against Halesowen Town (The Grove. Old Hawne Lane, Halesowen, B63 3TB). The Yeltz (a nickname that no-one seems to know the origins of), currently sit in 20th spot, whereas our opponents next Tuesday night at Heritage Park (£10 adults, £7 concession and £4 child) are Ramsbottom who currently sit bottom of the league on one point. Kick off is at 7.45 pm.
We could, potentially, be top of the league that game. Not that league placings mean anything at this stage but it would be great to see, even if fleetingly. I apologise in advance for having jinxed it.
The next fans meeting takes place in the Iron Horse on Wednesday, the day after Ramsbottom, at 7pm. For those who don’t know us, we are a social group of Aycliffe-based Darlington fans who get together to praise, criticise and generally chat about anything Darlo related.
If that’s something you’d like to do then pop along, we’d love to meet you. You can also follow us on twitter @dfcaycliffefans or find us on facebook Newton Aycliffe Darlington FC Supporters group.
As ever, keep the faith.
