Sedgefield Water Polo club held their Annual Autumn Festival for young players born under 14 and under 12 at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre in front of a full spectator area.
In the under 12 section Sedgefield entered two very young teams and after some close games with Sheffield, Rotherham and Hummersnott School the two home teams played each other in the final and in a very competitive game the Orange team triumphed 8-7.
The young players representing Sedgefield were Kyle Alderson 7, Isaac Mendelson 7, Lucy Li 7, Ben Alderson 10, Kes Mcewan 11, Ryan Jay Griffiths 10, Lewis Batey 11, Jonathon Jones 11, Jude Henderson 11, Rowan Henderson 10, Amelia Henderson 9, Charlie Mcewan 9, Bartosz Czajczynska 11, Liam Hughes 9, Zak Chafer 9, Max Byles 9, Anna Harrison 10, Isaac Boys 9.
The Sedgefield Orange player of the tournament was Max Byles playing in his first tournament and the Green team player of the tournament making his debut in goal was Jonathon Jones.
In the Under 14 section Sedgefield entered two teams A boys and a girls team. The boys team dominated throughout the competition against Sheffield, Rotherham and Hummmersnott School to win the trophy.
Michael Hampshire was the tournament’s outstanding player with his dynamic and high tempo play being too hot for the competition.
The Sedgefield girls team finished 4th in the competition and their outstanding player was Allysa Craggs.
The other players representing Sedgefield were Jake Mendelson 13, Haydn Craggs 13, Josh Batey 13, Joseph Boys 13, Damian Lawson 13, Hollie Turnbull 13, Kate Harrison 12, Crystal Elliot 12, Jessica Webb 12, Lauren Chatt 13, Poppy Stephenson 12 and Chris Jones 13 making his debut.
