Cam-Tec on the Business Park has contacted Newton News to notify everyone that someone is burning waste products including pvc plastic causing toxic smoke to waft across neighbouring businesses. This has been reported to the County Council Environment Health Department who will hopefully investigate and stop this dangerous practice. Open burning of plastic waste is simply dangerous to your health and the environment. Plastic such as PVC (polyvinylchloride) when burned releases carbon monoxide, dioxins and furans into the air. Whilst carbon monoxide is a pretty well known poison, dioxins and furans are not. Studies have linked dioxins and furans to cancer and respiratory disease.
