Chungdokwan Newton Aycliffe students Shane Meek and India Rothery-Higgins

Towards the end of 2012, students from Chungdokwan Taekwondo’s Newton Aycliffe club along with 15 fellow students from the organization took part in a competition in Doncaster. It was a very successful day for the whole group and the Newton Aycliffe club came away with 2 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze. This was the first competition that the club has taken part in for quite sometime and the students showed great effort and martial art spirit throughout the day.

As part of the clubs development, the Great Aycliffe and Middridge Area Action Partnership has awarded the club funding to provide 3 free lessons in the coming weeks, and it is hoped it will give locals a chance to experience the martial art of taekwondo in a friendly and family orientated environment. The classes cover all aspects of taekwondo and are suited to all ages and abilities.

The club runs Wednesday evenings 6.30-8pm in Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre and thanks to the Area Action partnership the first 3 sessions in January (9th, 16th and 23rd) will be free. So why not pop down and give it go…. You might just enjoy it!
