Sedgefield Water Polo Club’s U13 team travelled to Maltby Leisure Centre for an evening of friendly matches against Rotherham Metro on Sunday 18th September. For many members of the team, this was to be their first competitive experience and so everyone was really excited and looking forward to putting all the skills they’d been working on in practice into real game situations.
The team got off to a slow start whilst they found their feet and got used to working together, but then found their rhythm and went on to score lots of goals, making the final scores evenly balanced. Everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable evening and the parents were pleasantly surprised at the excitement of watching a game in a competitive environment rather than a mini polo game at club training.
Well done to Finley, Fynn and Leo from our level 8 group for stepping up into our main club team and playing with slightly more experienced players in their first club match! Our colleagues at Rotherham are keen to make this a regular happening to give both sets of kids much needed match practice – and they will hopefully travel to us at Newton Aycliffe, where we’ll be able to confidently fill the balcony with lots of supporters.
In addition to Junior and Senior sessions, the club now offer a beginner session on a Saturday afternoon at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre for those wishing to try this fun and exciting sport. All sessions need to be booked in advance so please check our website for further info and joining instructions. Contact us: 07579 030 598 / sedgefieldwp@hotmail.com
The club are delighted to have been selected for the Tesco Blue Token scheme form October till mid January. We would be extremely grateful for support from the local community. Please pop a blue token into our box when you do your shopping; remember, every little helps!
