Are you between the age of 5 and 18? Do you love to sing and move to your favourite tunes? Or maybe you prefer to rap? If the answer is yes then you need to come along to Newton Aycliffe Youth & Community Centre on a Saturday morning and join a ‘Popnosis’ Class.
Classes cost just £3 per week and are split into two age groups. The Jammin’ Junior’s Session is for 5 to 11 year olds and runs from 10am – 11am. The  Slammin’ Seniors Session is for 12 to 18 year olds and runs from 11am until 12pm.
Popnosis is a musical fusion of dance moves and singing!  Popnosis is more exciting than a choir, cooler than a glee club and more structured than karaoke! You don’t have to be a great singer or dancer you just need to love music.
A programme of songs will be learned over a term which will culminate in a performance for family and friends. Popnosis aims to build confidence, promote teamwork and performance skills and allow children and teenagers to express themselves through music while having fun in a non-competitive activity.
Corrinn Chambers is running the sessions. She works for the Citizens Advice Bureau as a debt worker. In her spare time teaches Fitsteps and Popnosis. She started ballroom and Latin dancing at the age of 6 and danced competitively until she was 16 years old.
Corrin is also is a qualified Zumba Instructor but is concentrating on bringing Fitsteps classes to local communities.
Corrinn has qualifications in Childhood Studies and wishes to pursue a career working with children and is currently training as a Teaching Assistant. She sees Popnosis as a much needed activity for local children who have a love of music and performing. Contact Corrinn on 07921711297.
