Post Christmas is a stressful time for many people who are struggling with their finances. More and more people every year have trouble making ends meet and covering the most essential household bills. This Christmas, more people than ever before have also taken out payday loans as a last resort.

Money troubles don’t go away by themselves, so if you’re getting into trouble, act quickly and seek advice about how to deal with it.

You shouldn’t have to add to your debts by paying for debt advice. There are several organisations that offer free, confidential advice to help you get your finances back on track. And you can get that advice in lots of different ways.

If you would like to see someone face-to-face about your debts, Sedgefield & District Citizens Advice Bureau is holding a debt ‘drop-in’ on Wednesday 23rd January and Wednesday 20th February at 66 Beveridge Arcade, Newton Aycliffe from 10am to 3pm (next to the Post Office).  This is for new clients only; if we are currently helping you then contact your advisor via the usual routes.

If you are unable to attend the drop-in but would like to talk to someone about money worries, please call our telephone gateway line on 01388 825429 Monday to Thursday 10am – 3pm and Friday 10am to 1pm.

We are also able to offer help with budgeting, checking best value tariffs and general financial enquiries; this service will also be available during our drop-in debt day or an appointment can be made by ringing our telephone gateway line.

You don’t have to be in debt to access our help.  If you are just concerned about making ends meet due to expected changes in your circumstances come and talk to us first.  As an independent charity we are completely free, independent and confidential.  We are here to help.

We would like to remind people that our Newton Aycliffe Bureau is based in the Pioneering Care Centre at Cobbler’s Hall and our drop-in session is Tuesdays from 10am – 1pm every week.
