I put myself forward for election to the Town Council as I feel Newton Aycliffe and my ward needs a strong Independent voice to represent the views and opinions of residents and for them to know they are being listened to.
I have worked in the community as a Councillor and a volunteer since 1996 and have learnt that no matter how many qualifications you hold, a Councillor has to have a down to earth approach with tolerance and understanding for all ages. This while helping people has always been my aim and it has been appreciated
One of my aims is to make Newton Aycliffe a “Dementia Friendly” town and I run a group called “New Pathways Together” which is very successful. If you need more information ring me on 308094.
We have to ensure that wherever possible older people are not left alone and that our younger generation receives more understanding.
I am also keen to ensure, where possible, that all young people are able to read and write before they leave school.
I will always be available to help, listen and follow up your requests and concerns to bring about an acceptable conclusion.
Thank you in anticipation of your support.
