Its been a busy few weeks for Aycliffe Tri Club with the race season in full flow. The 30th May saw Andrew Sedgwick and Graham Atkins both racing in the Nottingham Sprint Triathlon, both men gave excellent performances on the fast but demanding course.
The 7th June saw Michelle Scott tackling Keswick long course. This triathlon is renowned for being tough with a technical course that is hilly in sections. Michelle took the challenge head on with grit and determination coming in 5th place in a fantastic time of 2hr 53mins.
Sunday 14th June was another busy day on the race calendar with Andrew Sedgwick racing at the English National Standard Distance Championships where he finished in 33rd place in just 2hrs 13min. Racing the same day but a little closer to home Melanie Rowland gave a brilliant performance at Weardale Sprint Triathlon. With a 400m outdoor pool swim, 20km bike and a 5km run Mel overcame the cold and wet conditions to take first place in her category and 4th placed lady overall. Mel also got a new PB for the course with a time of 1hr 23min.
The club would like to thank GAMP for their support giving the club funding to develop it’s coaches, this will help see the club go from strength to strength.
