On the evening of Sunday 4th November a large glass panel was smashed out of one of the town centre bus shelters. Great Aycliffe Town Council manage the four large bus shelters that serve the town centre on Central Avenue and Stephenson Way. This is the third time in the last 12 months panels have been broken in these shelters.
The panels are substantial, very robust and take a great deal of effort to break. They are expensive to replace and the bill for replacing the glass will again be in excess of £350.
For this reason the Council are appealing for any witnesses to come forward to the Police with information which may lead to a prosecution, so that this unnecessary vandalism and needless public inconvenience can be prevented in the future.
