The Town Council have received 1000 bluebells which need planting in West Park. – Environment Officer Steve Cooper has earmarked the small copse of trees on the rise as the ideal location for the planting on Wednesday 19th March at 5.30pm.
Youth Councillors will help plant and this is now extended to the Friends of West Park and the general public. There is also the possibility of Snowdrops which can be planted along the Burn in the Park. While a 1000 sounds a lot to plant, planting them in clumps of 30 won’t take long especially if there are lots of keen helpers.
The bulbs are ‘in the Green’ meaning we plant them when they have sprouted and sometimes flowered. This is widely accepted as the best way to plant bulbs.
