Household waste recycling centres in County Durham are extending their opening hours for the summer months. The longer opening times will start from 1 April.and open every day between 9am and 6pm:
Heighington, Heighington Lane, Newton Aycliffe;
Residents using the sites are requested to separate their waste before arriving in order to make their visit quicker and reduce the risk of different types of materials becoming mixed, resulting in contamination.
The types of materials accepted at each site may vary and people can check what items can be taken to each site online at www.durham.gov.uk/hwrc
Household waste recycling centres cannot accept trade or commercial waste and certain types of vehicles will need to have a permit. To find out how to get a permit people can log onto www.durham.gov.uk/householdpermit
