Newton Aycliffe community photographer and personality Brian Nichol received the recognition he richly deserves last Wednesday when he received the Durham County Council Chairman’s medal at a short ceremony at County Hall in Durham City.
Brian has spent many years fundraising in his unique style for community groups in our great town and has held Halloween Events / Christmas events in his own home to raise funds for local charities. Brian’s latest venture has been to take photos at town-wide events, weddings and private functions across the town asking only for a contribution to his charity fund.
Brian has also provided a service to the residents of Newton Aycliffe by converting old home video recordings on to memory sticks so that wedding ceremonies and christenings can be kept up-to-date.
Over the years Brian Nichol has given thousands of pounds to local charities and gets immense pleasure from doing so. Brian has helped me over my year as Mayor to record, in pictures, many of the events which my wife Elaine and I have attended for which I am eternally grateful. Congratulations and thank you Brian for all that you do in the community.
