Excitement is growing for trustees of Aycliffe Community Engagement (ACE) as they head towards their first community event to raise funds for those within our town who have hit difficult times and find themselves in need.
Everything is coming together for the event. Staff at The Big Club are polishing the glasses, especially those in the new gin and cocktail bar, raffle prizes are being donated, but, the first prize three prizes will be kept under wraps until the night. I am informed by the trustees you won’t be disappointed.
The event has had a lot of social media cover, I think members of ACE, staff at The Big Club and our one and only Nev Jones have been trying to outdo one another as to how many hits they can get. This all promises to be a good evening. Tickets will be available on the door if you haven’t managed to get one before the night. So the event is taking place as we have said at the big club on 9th November 7 for7.30. (Get their early to get a good seat). Plus it will give you time to pop into the aforementioned bar and sample one of the gins stocked. I have already ordered mine.
Entertainment will include the ever popular 70’s tribute band Groovy Street. I am told by one Nev Jones that they are, in his words nothing short of excellent.!!!!! I believe he has this on good authority. Alongside Groovy Street will be Darlington’s acoustic guitarist, singer songwriter David Brittle. David took part in the event held in The summer in Aycliffe Town centre and hosted by Aycliffe Radio.
David comes to us after an interesting event in Liverpool The Management of Speedy heard that country wide they had several talented musicians in the company.
Thy have had a couple of sessions practicing together but mainly it has been at home or in twos or threes. They will be pulling their talents ready for the Speedy Expo on Albert Dock Liverpool.
So get yourself along, polish off your dancing shoes and dance the night away. ACE hope to hold future fundraising events for the benefit of the people of Newton Aycliffe who are in need. Vice Chairman Geoff Batchelor who has been responsible for organising this event would like to see further events throughout 2019.
