Dear Sir,
I respond to C. Chape’s insertion in the Newton News, and advise him to stick with complaining to the Highways Department and the police. I can see by the pictures the red car is obstructing the walkway which is an offence, and the blue car is completely on the footway, which can be towed away.
I have obstructions to both my garage and driveway for 13 years, it is only recently that the issue has been improved but not stopped completely by the police issuing obstruction notices. Why does it take so long when the police no fine well that they are committing an obstruction, sometimes deliberately.
My solicitor advises the occupant of the property being obstructed has the right to “free and unrestricted  access” to their land and or property. You can take legal action to stop it and if the police ignore it, complaints can be made via the Chief Constable.
