Saturday 29th July this year will see a first for Newton Aycliffe, as the town celebrates its 75th Anniversary with a spectacular LIVE MUSIC FESTIVAL.
Nearly two years in the planning with Shildon Live organisers, Ayclive Events will bring a live music festival to the grounds of the OakLeaf Sports Complex, thanks to the assistance and support of Great Aycliffe Town Council, Gestamp, Kudos Commercial Finance and McDonalds (Newton Park). Thanks also to Northern Productions Ltd, the Aycliffe Radio team and Stuart McLean, the combined driving force behind the project.
The festival will feature eight live bands including TWO headline acts; ‘Cast’; an English indie rock band formed in Liverpool in 1992. Emerging from the Britpop movement of the mid-1990s. Cast signed to Polydor Records and their debut album ‘All Change’ (1995) became the highest selling debut album for the label. With seven top ten hits, they are best known for ‘Sandstorm’ and ‘Flying’.
Accompanying ‘Cast’ are ‘Dodgy’, another 90s band from Hounslow, formed in 1990, made famous by the hit single ‘Good Enough’. The Festival will also feature local group ‘Another Crisis’ (Classic Pop), The Breakfast Club (1980s), Sleeze Sisters (1970s), Ska Boom (Ska), Northern Soul Elite (Northern Soul/Motown) and Sound Divide (Rock).
The inaugural festival will take place on the Sports Field at the OakLeaf Sports Complex, School Aycliffe Lane on Saturday 29th July 2023 from 12.00noon to 11.00pm. The show field will also host well-stocked bars, refreshments, concession stands and fairground rides.
Tickets are very reasonably priced, especially if you consider that ‘Cast’ are performing at Newcastle O2 Arena in May for £44.00 per ticket and Dodgy are also playing various O2 arenas around the UK with prices starting from £25.00 per ticket.
Ayclive Festival ticket prices are currently at the EARLY BIRD sale price of £15.00 for adults and £8.00 for under 18s (age 14-17) available until 28th February online only. The price will then go to the normal price of £20.00 for adults and £15 for under 18s (age 14-17). Children aged 14 years of age are free when accompanied by a paying adult. Online sales will incur an additional £1.00 booking fee, which is automatically added online.
