Yet another blank weekend for many of our teams, as the constant rainfall throughout the week closed the OakLeaf and many pitches across the region.
Saltburn Youth v Aycliffe U8 Eagles
On a very wet and heavy pitch the boys started off well and went one nil up with a good goal from josh before getting pegged back. The boys were unlucky to find themselves behind to a great goal from the opposition. Toby scored a free kick to level. With minutes remaining and trailing by a goal, the boys kept working and got a deserved equaliser.
Aycliffe U13 Eagles 17 v Billingham (Cup) 0
Cup game against bottom of the TJFA league, so it was going to be a relatively straight forward game, as long as the lads play to their ability. Aycliffe changed things around, as coaches wanted to see if they could test players out of their usual positions. They were asked to pass the ball around and work hard through out the game. A huge credit to the Billingham lads and coaches for battling to the end of the game. Refs MOM was Lucas, coaches was Harley.
South Park Rangers v Aycliffe U10 Eagles
Eagles got off to a flying start with Floyd finding the top corner from a 25 yard free kick. George D doubled the lead finishing well from a one v one before Floyd smashed home his second of the game to secure the victory. The back line of Adam, Harry L and Phoenix were solid at the back and Harry M with fine saves in goal. Sam, George H and Will, all with lovely link up passing.
Sunderland City Jnrs v Aycliffe U11 Eagles
Due to sickness and injury Aycliffe had the bare nine players for the game. The lads started very slowly and soon found ourselves 1-0 down. Although they got a goal back through Oliver, the lads ended the half 2-1 down. Second half, Aycliffe were like a different team! The effort and quality they played with was fantastic and they got the goal they deserved and were the better team second half. FT 2-2.
Great Ayton 4 v Aycliffe U14 Eagles 4
It’s always disappointing conceding late on to a deflected shot and you come away thinking it’s two points dropped, rather than 1 point gained. But the lads were on a heavy, small pitch and tried to play good football as much as they could, more often than not, it was great to watch. Well done lads! Goals: Charlie, Oliver (2) and Will. MOMs: Jenson & Arthur.
