Yet another blank week for many of our teams, as frozen pitches across the region cancelled most games.
Darlington Youth 1 v
Aycliffe U12 Wildcats 0
This was the Durham County Cup Semi Final. The game went as expected, with both teams having good periods of the game but without any clear chances. HT 0-0.
The second half was much of the same until a ball through for Darlington saw their pacy forward create an opportunity and finish well. This proved to be the winner. Our girls left everything on the pitch.
Redcar Town Blues 2 v
Aycliffe U14 Eagles 4
A very hard thought win for the lads to move back up in to the top 4, with games in hand on teams above. A few tight decisions surrounding Redcar’s 2 goals, either side of half time and battling against the strengthening wind in the 2nd half, still wasn’t enough to stop the lads bagging 4 deserved goals of their own. Well done lads! Goals: Posi, Isaac, Edward (2). MOMs: Edward & Ethan.
Middlesbrough 5 v Aycliffe U17 Girls 3
On a 3G pitch, a fast game awaited Aycliffe but unfortunately the girls went a goal down early on. Our determined keeper Olivia went in for a challenge and came out injured and became the first substitute. Mia opened our scoring but halftime arrived another goal down. It took 4-1 down before Sophie McClean received a ball from Imogen Milburn to score. Ebony Newman never gave up to score another.
Whickham Fellside 3 v Aycliffe U15 Girls (Sunday) 4
First game in over two months. Four new players with three moving on since the last game. You wouldn’t know as the football was often superb and all players linked up well. Goals from Romilly, Megan, Faith & Evie. Assisted by Amy, Romilly, Eveie & Faith respectively. Star players; Nancy & Ava.
Prissick Rovers v Aycliffe U9 Eagles
Despite this being a goalless draw, this game was not without action against a very physical opposition. The boys played very well again, limiting Prissick to only one clear chance in the whole game. Clear chances were few and far between for both teams but the boys probably edged the game in terms of scoring opportunities hitting the post and coming close on several other occasions.
Hetton Juniors v Aycliffe U8 Wildcats
A tough game against one of the best teams in the league, but the girls never gave up as they continue to improve in their first season of league football.
Durham TIBS 1 v Aycliffe U13 Girls 1
The girls got off to a good start and opened the scoring on 10 mins courtesy of Imogen running into the box and placing her shot to the right of the keeper. However, TIBS grabbed an equaliser. HT 1-1. Aycliffe didn’t get the winning goal they deserved having created far more chances throughout the remaining 35 minutes. POTM: Lily.
