Marie Curie (Newton Aycliffe Fundraising Group) celebrated its first year anniversary recently and declared a total raised of £7168, which will further help in the care provision for people with terminal illnesses in our area.

The Group would like to sincerely thank the generous contributions given by all individuals who participated in the events held throughout the year which included the recent Daffodil Appeal, our many tin collections and regular coffee mornings. Added to that we had a fantastic Ladies Night held at Moore Lane Sports Club, as well as two successful Book Sales held at Heighington Village Hall and St Clare’s Church in Newton Aycliffe.

The Group would further like to thank the support provided by Tesco, Poundstretcher, the committee of St Clare’s Church, the Town Centre Management and numerous retailers and businesses who provided both fund raising opportunities and raffle prize donations.

We are now looking forward to the 2017/2018 year where we can build on the success already achieved and are constantly searching for new team members who would welcome the opportunity of participating in such a worthwhile cause. In return for a couple of hours per month your ideas and enthusiasm can bring real benefit to people who are in real need. The Group meets on the first Thursday of every month at 6.30pm. in the Training Room at Tesco (next meeting Thursday 1st June 2017). Please come along, you will be most welcome.

We have recently launched our Facebook page – ‘Newton Aycliffe Marie Curie Fund Raising Group’ which we will be using for contact details, communicating past and future events, photographs etc. If you “like” what you see please share with your friends and colleagues.

A Coffee Morning is to be held at Heighington Village Hall on Saturday, 20th May 2017, between 10am and 12 noon. Admission is £2.00 to include either Tea/Coffee and Scone. On sale will be homemade cakes, ladies scarves and a raffle prize draw.
