Newton Aycliffe FC kick off the 2018-2019 season on Saturday 4 August when Ryhope CW visit Moore Lane. Deano Browne’s team will feature several new faces for this campaign. This season will be Aycliffe’s tenth in the Ebac Northern League & committee and volunteers led by chairman Allan Oliver have worked hard to get the ground ready. The pitch has seen new drainage installed following several postponements over the last couple of seasons. Unfortunately the recent dry spell has hampered preparations & as a result there have been no preseason friendlies on Moore Lane this year. The friendly against Liversedge on Saturday 28 July is now being played at the West Riding County FA ground at Woodlesford near Leeds.

Aycliffe’s most recent friendlies have seen a 3-3 draw against Northern League champions Marske Utd and a 2-1 win at Garforth Town. As well as Liversedge Aycliffe will also play at Northallerton Town & Darlington RA in the last week before the season proper gets under way. The Northallerton game will once again be for the Frank Swinburne Memorial Cup, named after the popular Aycliffe committee member.
